New Trier senior Madeline Oh was recently named a top 300 scholar in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2023, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. Science teacher Hanna Cohen, who teaches chemistry and astronomy at New Trier’s Winnetka Campus, received some exciting news over winter break: she has been selected to participate in the Space Exploration Educator Crew next year.

Science Olympiad places second at State
On April 10, New Trier Science Olympiad competed in the Illinois Science Olympiad Virtual State Tournament and won second place out of 59 schools, once again earning the opportunity to compete at the Science Olympiad National Competition hosted by Arizona State University on May 21-22.

Science Olympiad advances to State
On Saturday, March 6, New Trier Science Olympiad sent one Varsity and two JV teams to compete at the Oakton College Regional. Results were released on March 13. New Trier won 1st place in the Varsity category out of 11 teams with a strong score of 24 points. New Trier's Varsity Science Olympiad team and additional students competing in trial events will compete for one of two bids to Nationals at the State Competition at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on April 10.

NT Senior Named Top 300 Scholar
New Trier senior Alexandra Bardas was recently named one of the top 300 Scholars in the 80th Regeneron Science Talent Search-the nation's oldest and most prestigious science and mathematics competition for high school seniors. Scholars were selected from 1,760 students who entered from 611 high schools across 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and 10 countries.
