Commencement attire is commensurate with the formality of the event. Students must come properly dressed for the ceremony in business/semi-formal attire that is mid-calf or longer in length. The chest and stomach must be covered. Shoes must be dressy. All items must be either black or white in color, including shoes. Shoes may also be nude in color. Examples include the following:
- Dress pants and sport coats
- Dresses
- Jumpsuits
- Pantsuits/Suits
- Tuxedos
Casual attire (ex. jeans, shorts, athletic wear, sport shoes, flip flops, hats or similar items) are not allowed.
Students may choose to carry a small strapless clutch bag that is the size of one's hand; the clutch must be white or black in color. Students are discouraged from bringing any personal belongings. There is no space available to store or secure personal items during the ceremony.
At the ceremony, a single red rose or boutonniere will be distributed to each student. The cost is included in the student fee bill.
A student arriving in attire not adhering to the guidelines without prior approval by a Senior Adviser Chair will be asked to change into approved attire, if available, or will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.
