Health Services Department Equity Goals

Sep 2024 – May 2025
Goals:
- Strengthen the interdisciplinary partnership between Social Work and Health Services to meet the needs of struggling students. Establish regular meetings with both Department Chairs/Coordinators to articulate and discuss students’ needs.
- Continue expanding the vision and hearing conservation program which requires screening for all NT students with IEPs annually.
- Support students with chronic conditions by providing training and information that increases staff knowledge and confidence in responding to health emergencies.

Goals:
- Expand vision and hearing screener for all NT students, including non-verbal students.
- Look for equity professional learning for nurses to attend to increase cultural sensitivity for struggling students.
Status: Complete.

Sep 2021 – May 2022
Goals:
- Continue to work with the IT department to build capacity to input/report demographics of students submitting dental exams.
- Health Services continues to work with local pediatricians’ offices and health departments to help provide resources to all members of the NT community.
- Continue to provide resources to the NT student body and community to ensure access for all to universal COVID-19 testing and vaccine options
- Work to bridge the gaps in care among certain demographics of students where there is a need.

Goals
- Developing reports in PowerSchool that look at Health Services student visit statistics through an equity lens and use that data to impact nursing services at New Trier.
