Goal:  

• Participate in experiences that broaden our knowledge of various cultures, identities, and religions and integrate these understandings into our counseling work with students.
• Engage in regular professional development offerings both inside and outside of the school.  
• Engage in reflective conversations that include civil discourse, respectful inquiry, engaged listening, and open consideration of multiple perspectives.

• Review social work research to inform our counseling practices when working with students of color and students who identify as LGBTQ+.

• Utilize department time to discuss experiences in professional development workshops and key issues regarding mental health support for students from marginalized groups.

Goal:  

• Each member of the department will assess their own background in cultural competence, set an individual goal to increase their knowledge, and participate in professional development offerings that will support the achievement of their goal.
