SAFETY AND APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR
Many students are already making plans for Prom, and it is important that parents are involved in these plans. Your guidance is essential to ensure students do not engage in behavior that is potentially dangerous or illegal. Please talk with other parents about guidelines or questions you have about the evening.
To ensure the safety of all students attending Prom, hotel room rental parties or any parties that permit alcohol or drugs are prohibited under state law, the hotel’s rules, and school policy. As with all other school events, use of alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, vaping products, and other prohibited substances as defined in our Student Guidebook is strictly prohibited. In addition, each student attending the dance, including non-New Trier students, must adhere to the expectations outlined in the Guest Request Form and abide by all school rules. This agreement also provides students with the following information regarding consequences for failing to follow the rules: Students found in possession of illegal substances or alcohol will be turned over to local police. Students who are found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be assessed for medical care, and parents will be required to pick them up at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Students will also face school disciplinary action.

Buses: The Hyatt has two hotel towers; our prom is in the EAST TOWER. Designate a person in your group who will be the coordinator for your bus. That person will communicate with both the bus driver and your group, so that everyone gets on your bus at the same time. This is important for traffic in the area! Students may not cross the street. Tell your driver to pick up your group on East Wacker Drive (on the hotel side of the street) or on North Stetson Avenue, on the EAST side of the street, also alongside the hotel. Know what bus you are on!
-
Uber & Lyft: The Hyatt has two hotel towers; our prom is in the EAST TOWER. Please give your driver this specific address and tell them to pick you up in the main circle drive area, directly in front of the hotel: Hyatt Regency, 151 East Wacker Drive.
-
Cars: For students who drive to prom, park in the HYATT VALET PARKING GARAGE on Lower Stetson Avenue. Reduced-price valet parking passes will be available for the reduced parking rate of $49. See Ms. Kolack or Mrs. Holzman at the technology table to get your reduced-price parking voucher before leaving prom for the night. You must pay the valet upon departure.

SAFETY AND PERSONAL BELONGINGS
-
Each year at Prom, we seem to have students who lose valuables such as money, keys, credit cards, or cell phones. Please encourage students not to leave items at tables unattended. We will have a coat check available.
-
Any items left behind that we find will be available for students to pick up on Monday following the event in the Student Activities Office (W021D).
