Dear New Trier Jazz Enthusiast,
This year we will present our 40th Annual Frank Mantooth Jazz Festival at New Trier High School. For forty years we’ve been hosting a non-competitive festival experience for our New Trier Jazz students and our visiting bands, and we’ve presented world-class jazz artistry on our evening concert. To mark this anniversary year, we’re presenting our New Trier Jazz Fest Weekend on February 4 and 5, 2023. Saturday will look familiar, filled with student performances, workshops, and our evening concert featuring New Trier’s Jazz Ensemble 1 followed by one our favorite jazz fest bands of all-time, Delfeayo Marsalis presents The Uptown Jazz Orchestra. Delfeayo and his bandmates have created a uniquely New Orleans ensemble, full of big band power, New Orleans flavored spontaneity, and loads of joyfulness. If you were here in 2018 you know what I’m talking about.
On Sunday we’ll return to New Trier for a concert featuring what I can only (for now) describe as an Epic Surprise Big Band. Due to contractual issues I’m not able to reveal the identity of this ensemble until one week before the festival, but I hope you’ll trust me when I tell you this band is unparalleled in their artistry, and that you will not want to miss it. The Sunday concert begins at 2:00pm.
- Note that current New Trier Jazz students do not need a ticket for the Saturday Jazz Fest Evening Concert. All NTJazz students sit in the orchestra pit, right in front of the stage.
- We will be asking students to purchase a ticket to sit in the pit for the Sunday concert, but will do this through RevTrack as a package with their jazz fest t-shirt. We’ll roll that out after Thanksgiving. For now, please do not purchase any tickets for your current NTJazz student.
Each year we program an ambitious festival because we can count on the support of our incredible jazz families. We require over 100 parent volunteers to fill critical roles in planning and executing the festival. We also rely on the financial support of Jazz Festival Sponsors and Jazz Festival Supporters. - $300 Duke Ellington Sponsorship - acknowledgement in our program book and four (4) premium reserved seats for the Saturday, Feb 4 Jazz Fest Evening Concert.
- $600 Ella Fitzgerald (Weekend) Sponsorship - acknowledgement in our program book, four (4) premium reserved seats for the Saturday, Feb 4 Jazz Fest Evening Concert, AND four (4) platinum-level tickets for the Sunday Epic Surprise Big Band concert.
- $750 Louis Armstrong (Weekend) Sponsorship - acknowledgement in our program book, four (4) premium reserved seats for the Saturday, Feb 4 Jazz Fest Evening Concert, AND four (4) VIP-level tickets for the Sunday Epic Surprise Big Band concert.
- Jazz Festival Supporters – donations up to $300 will be acknowledged in our program book.
