Welcome to New Trier Boys Tennis home of 22 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS! From our Lexicon, "NEW TRIER TENNIS starts with TEAM, USTA tennis starts with you!" High school tennis should be the priority for you during our season 2/26 to end of May. Tryouts consist of playing singles "superbreakers" to 10 against other students, doubles competition & skills assessment, and attitude/effort/sportsmanship. We try and make our tryout process as metric as possible and tabulate all data. The players tryout results determine what team they merit a spot on. The best players regardless of age will be on the Varsity. Cuts will depend on number of boys trying out - we will keep as many players on teams as courts & number of coaches allow. Tryouts should be at least 3 times for each student unless their level doesn't necessitate any cuts. Tryouts are a clean slate for all players, regardless of performance/position the previous year.

The upperclassmen have a preseason meeting Friday Jan 19 from 335-4pm in room E360 Winnetka Campus. If you miss this meeting reach out to Coach Tad Eckert

The freshman have a preseason meeting Friday Jan 19 from 730-8am in room C221 Northfield Campus. If you miss this meeting reach out to Coach David Hjelmgren

 With late February / early March Chicago weather unreliable for outdoor play, we most likely will host tryouts indoors at various local tennis clubs.

Indoor court times during the week will be before school & late evening, and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Due to limited indoor courts we anticipate tryouts going from Monday February 26th thru March 10 or longer. Please let us know any conflicts in advance.

Updated 2024 tryout information:

Tryouts begin Monday February 26^th after school.

Currently the weather looks promising for some outdoor sessions so try and get outside to play before tryouts start.

You will need to be registered/approved to tryout via the school

You cannot try out until/unless you are cleared.

For all Freshman:

Monday 2/26 meet in room c221 at Northfield immediately after class and dress for outdoor play (bring your rackets too).

We will check on registration for all athletes (see above).

We will discuss the plan for tryouts (weather dependent).

And as of now, it looks like we will be able to get on the courts and play some too (until dark 530ish).

For all (other) sophomores:

Monday 2/26 meet in Winnetka room 179 afterschool by 345pm and dress for outdoor play (bring your rackets too).

We will check on registration for all athletes (see above).

We will discuss the plan for tryouts (weather dependent).

As of now, it looks like we will be able to get on the courts and play some too (until dark 530ish).

For all juniors, seniors, returning varsity, and members of last year’s sophomore & JV teams:

Monday 2/26 meet at the AC Nielsen tennis shack at 410pm and dress for outdoor play (bring your rackets too).

We will check on registration for all athletes (see above)

We will discuss the plan for tryouts (weather dependent).

As of now, it looks like we will be able to get on the courts and play some too (until dark 530ish).

If we can play outside, our first day Monday will end at 6pm.
