Math Department Equity Goals

2023-2025
Goal: To update and extend our equity lessons, projects, and social justice connections to include additional courses and year groups. As part of this work, we will add mathematical course connections and ideas to the monthly observance toolkits.

2021-2023
Goal: For 80% of our courses to include an equity or social justice component to at least one lesson (using any of the following: developed equity or social justice lessons or projects, “Mathematician Monday” or similar inclusion activities, monthly observance toolkit materials, data sets, etc.)
Status: Complete and in progress

2019-2021
Goal: For 80% of teachers in the department to complete a Professional Development session or workshop with an equity focus. Programming that was suggested included New Trier PD (Unconscious Bias, Beyond Diversity, SEED, Teaching While White, etc.) and equity workshops and conferences (such as TODOS, SEED or Teaching While White) outside of New Trier.
